Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How do video consultations work?
A. We arrange a day and time that suits us both. I use Zoom for video consultations which is easy to use even if you are unfamiliar with it. Consultations are really relaxed and you can be in your bed if you like! It is helpful if you're able to log on with two devices if we're going to be observing a feed.

Q. How long does a consultation last?
A. Home visit consultations are at your own home (or a friend or relative if they agree) and lasts around an hour and a half.
Video consultations are up to an hour.
Phone consultations are at a time to suit you and last 30 minutes.
Remote consultations (whatsapp/email) are ongoing for two weeks, but can be extended for additional cost.

Q. How are fees for home visits calculated?
A. Fees are worked out based on your location. As standard I cover a 15 mile radius from BS48. If you live further than this, additional travel costs will be discussed with you at time of booking.

Q. Which payment methods do you accept?
A. For video, remote, and phone consultations, payment is by card via Stripe or SumUp
Home visits -Card (preferred), cash and bank transfer are all possible. I have a portable card machine, though may need to use your wifi for this if there isn't much phone signal in your area.

Q. Can I message you in the night?
A. Yes, you can, although I won't get the messages until the morning when I turn on my phone. A lot of my requests for support come through overnight!

Q. Do I need to prepare anything?
A. There may be certain feeding behaviours that you want me to see, so getting videos of them in advance may be helpful, just in case your baby doesn't show them at your appointment.

Q. Are you ok with pets at home visits?
A. Yes, absolutely. I've had many a consultation with a cat on my lap or a dog at my feet. For a lot of families it's important their pets are included.

Q. What happens at a home consultation?
A. Home visits are really relaxed and informal, often involving a lot of laughter and sometimes some tears too. I do not expect a tidy home or a drink, I don't mind if you're in your pjs, and it's fine if you don't want to get out of bed! I will need somewhere to wash my hands.
Throughout the appointment I'm led by you and your baby and your own individual needs and questions. I'll likely need to observe one or more feeds, and ask questions about how things have been going, and what concerns you have among other things.
The aim is to leave you feeling more confident, and knowing how to move forward.

Q. Does a consultation include follow up?
A. Yes, it includes follow up calls, texts, emails for two weeks. In the event that you'd like a follow up visit, there will be additional charge but at reduced rate.
